Jonathan H. Lack is the newly appointed Executive Director of the Houston Wellness Association, a collaborative effort to advance Mayor Bill White’s Wellness Council’s efforts to promote fitness and wellness across the Greater Houston area. He has over 16 years of post-MBA management experience in the banking, financial, electronic commerce, healthcare, information services and manufacturing sectors. Having been a Project Manager for an Israeli-Palestinian Cooperative Project, he is also trained in negotiations, conflict-resolution and cross-cultural communications. Lack has been active in wellness initiatives since 2004 when he launched a wellness venture in partnership with Cockrell Interest, Inc. called Cardeo™, a consumer wellness expo and medical conference focusing on the prevention of heart disease that was held in both Houston and in Denver. In January 2005, Mayor Bill White asked Lack to serve on the Executive Committee on his Mayor’s Wellness Council to lead the City’s Get Moving Houston initiative to fight a growing obesity problem and to address overall community wellness. Previously, Lack was part of the founding executive management of CompuBank, NA, the
first Internet bank to receive a charter from the Office of the Comptroller of Currency, where as EVP of Marketing and Strategic Planning he successfully helped raise $36 million in institutional funding from Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, General Electric, and Marsh & McLennan. CompuBank's accounts and deposits were sold in 2001 to NetBank, a public Internet bank. Prior to CompuBank, Mr. Lack was founder and President of Research Online International where he specialized in market segmentation, market positioning, and competitive analysis for such companies as Compaq, HP, MCI, Microsoft, Nokia, US West, several start-ups, and many midsize firms across the US and abroad. He also previously served as Alliance Manager for Wireless and Information Service for MCI Global Messaging Services.Lack holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and an M.A. in International Relations from John Hopkins University's School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He holds a B.A. in Middle East Studies from the University of California at Berkeley. Lack’s civic involvement includes: The Texas Lyceum, American Leadership Forum, The Wharton Club of Houston Advisory Board, Trustee, Holocaust Museum of Houston Endowment Fund, Board Member, US Baltic-Foundation, Board Member, Mickey Leland Kibbutz Internship Program.
Lack also coaches his nine year old son’s basketball and soccer teams.
